Product Introduction:
Rigid couplings for grooved piping systems are manufactured to provide rigidity at the assembled joint-similar to the pipe joint being welded or flanged.
The ANSI B31,1 Power Piping Code requires a minimumhanger spacing for piping with rigid connections.
As does the ANSI B31.9 Building Service Code and NFPA13 Fire Protection Systems.
Underwriters Laboratory defines a rigid pipe connection as one that does notdeflect from a center line by more than one (1) degree.
After the pipe ends are grooved, a rubber gasketthat is suitable for the piping system is stretched over the pipe ends.
Coupling segments are then placedover the gasket, and nuts and bolts are fastened, resulting in a secure and leak free joint.
Rigid couplingsare most often used to assemble horizontal piping that holds the weight and provides a platform forplumbing and accommodates the weight of fluid, fittings, valves and other devices.
Grooved pipecouplings are often used in fire protection services, water supply systems, and other process systemsthat require a higher working pressure.
Product composition:
Two shells, two bolts and nuts, one sealing rubber ring
Installation method:
1.First check the end of the steel pipe that needs to be connected together for burrs and defects
2.Next, apply lubricating oil to the lips and outside of the sealing rubber ring
3.Then first put a section of steel pipe into the sealing rubber ring
4.Then put the other end that needs to be connected together into the sealing rubber ring.
5.Put the housing of the coupling on the outside of the sealing rubber ring
6.Finally tighten the bolts and nuts
